Appointment to the Bench

Individuals who wish to be considered for appointment to a superior court or Tax Court of Canada can obtain a Personal History Form from the Judicial Appointments Secretariat in the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs, phone 613-992-9400,  fax 613-941-0607). Information about the process is also available on the website of the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs.

Individuals who wish to be considered for appointment to a provincial or territorial court should contact the office of the relevant provincial/territorial Minister of Justice for information.

Judicial Education

The National Judicial Institute (NJI) is dedicated to the development and delivery of educational programs for all federal, provincial, and territorial judges. The programs on offer focus on the three major components of judicial education: substantive law, skills training, and social context issues.
