The complainant shared his concern that some documents related to his court matter were illegally censored by government employees prior to the judge deciding on the matter. Specifically, the complainant mentioned he was unhappy with the response from the judge’s secretary stating that his letter to the judge was withheld because it is improper for a judge to correspond with a litigant on a matter that has been before the Courts.

The complainant requested that the Council conduct an investigation in this matter; however, the lack of evidence and information did not warrant consideration. The complainant was advised that it is in fact inappropriate for a litigant to write to a judge regarding a court matter, either directly or through an assistant, and that the response to his letter by the judge’s office was not misconduct, nor a failure to execute his duties. The matter was closed.
